Located in the Oxbow District of Napa, Oxbow Public Market is the ultimate foodie destination. Produce stands, artisan cafes and restaurants, gourmet shops, and much more are all to be enjoyed by locals and visitors in the 40,000 square foot marketplace along the Napa River.
At Oxbow Cheese & Wine Merchant you can find an outstanding variety of cheeses and a great selection of wines from Napa Valley and around the world for retail sale, and at the Wine Bar, you can select artisan cheese or charcuterie board, and enjoy it with a flight of selected wines or a draft beer.
Napa Valley Distillery offers a variety of premium fruit-based distilled spirits, shrubs, tonics, and syrups from around the world. Several brands of bitters that are not available anywhere else in the States, pre-prohibition era barrel-aged cocktails, and a large collection of authentic vintage bar ware from the early 1900s can also be found at the distillery.
Handcrafted entirely from premium single Napa Valley sauvignon blanc grapes, Napa Vodka (Brandy) Vintage Reserve is the most popular item at the distillery.
Made in small batches with locally sourced ingredients, Kara’s Cupcakes are as delicious as they are beautiful and will definitely satisfy your sweet tooth.
Three Twins Ice Cream shop features organic ice-cream which is simply delicious. The only thing you have to worry about at the counter is which flavor to settle on.
The scrumptious Chocolate Orange Confetti flavor was my choice.
For artisan chocolates, brittles, and sauces, make a stop at Anette’s Chocolates. Handcrafted with quality ingredients, their truffles, caramels, wine, and beer brittles, chocolate sauces and other seasonal specialties deliver rich and complex combination of flavors.
With its focus on using the highest quality beans that are brewed into delectable coffee, Ritual Roasters is the place to enjoy a cup of coffee at the market.
Hog Island Oyster Bar serves fresh shellfish direct from their farm on Tomales Bay. This practice of delivering the best shelfish to their customers, Hog Island Oyster Co. calls “Bay to Bar” philosophy. Their menu also features other seafood items, organic salads, and small plates.
A glass of refreshing wine from their fine wine list to compliment my lunch – delicious Sriracha Oysters and Crab Cakes.
Live Fire Pizza offers California style wood-fired pizza, Italian sandwiches, and salads. Pizza choices range from Morning Pizza topped with an egg to Vegan Pizza made with seasonal produce. For dinner I had Sausage Pizza made with sausage from Fatted Calf.
With its strong ties to local farmers, Fatted Calf is dedicated to the production of exceptionally delicious products. To provide high standard goods, their products are made in small batches with pasture raised meats. Salumi, sausages, pates and confits, and smoked meats, along with fresh salads and sandwiches are featured on their menu.
The Model Bakery has been operating in Napa Valley for almost 90 years. The bakery follows traditions of making authentic artisan breads and baked goods. Their menu features a great variety of breads, pastries, and cakes, along with Stumptown coffee, breakfast and lunch specials. English muffin is one of their most popular items (as featured on Food Network and Oprah’s Favorite Things 2016).
I would like to close this blog post with the picture of this light and flaky butter croissant from Model Bakery, and suggest to add the Oxbow Market to the list of places to visit in Napa. This market is truly the place that would satisfy every palette. Happy travels!
